WOW! did I buy the wrong AP?
Alignment could have been more aggressive, tires could have been better. Too many variables to say for sure the AP1 is a better car. For me I say my AP2 is a better car than an AP1 because I can run much faster lap times than an AP1 isnt a solid way for me to decide the AP2 is better either.
who knows what was in the diff too, maybe shorter final drive? Lighter flywheel also probably made it feel faster, also could have just been the flashy lights going all the way across the dash unlike in the AP2. AP1 tach travels further, so it would need to travel faster if given same amount of time.
I'm just going to say this. There might just be something wrong with your AP2, or the gearing in that ap1 changed. If there's one thing that even die hard ap1 owners will admit, is that it sucks down low, and while the AP2 is no V8, its considerably easier, and more responsive at the lower end. I've honestly never heard someone say the AP1 felt better at the lower end of the powerband.
So let's address this: It's not the wheels. The weight difference is faily marginal at best between the ap1 and ap2, and it's nothing that the increase of torque doesn't take care of. DBW lag is more or less non-existant in the S. I mean yes, technically it's there, but we're talking like a millisecond or 2 worth. As far as the suspension goes: Yes the AP1 suspension is more raw. For better or worse, the 06 suspension is a lot more tame.
Solutions: Either get an AP1 setup, a CR setup, or a decent (not cheap, but you don't need to go high end) coilover setup. Something around the PSS9 price/perforance ratio. Definitely don't go cheap on suspension components. If you're really concerned about the DBW, get a flashpro. Hell, imo no owner of an 06+ shouldn't have a flashpro. You can get rid of DBW lag altogether through the throttle plate, and get some extra ponies/tq's with a tune.

AP2 is a better overall car, track proven.
