Anytime you have freezing rain or ice you should stay home. No snow tire other then those with studs will help on ice. They are wonderful on snow however useless on true ice.

Agree. S2000 or not.....AWD or RWD, you shouldn't be driving on ice. Especially those black ice conditions. Nobody is safe in that condition.

On many occasions, ice cannot be avoided. If we were to stay home everytime there might be ice on the roads we travel, we'd have a lot "off" days. Almost all snow tires have ice siping in their tread design. These are snow tires that can perform ice duty. Studs are banned in many locales and are not an option. Some tire manufacturers even make dedicated ice tires. These are ice tires that can perform snow duty.
Although one should take the utmost of care and caution when driving in such conditions, we should not spread paranoia about driving on ice. It is usually those who have little to no experience driving on ice (ill prepared and ill equipped) or those who live in areas that get no ice, who are the ones that speak the loudest against it. Do you really think that those who live in places like Alaska and in the northern part of the northern hemispere all drive snow mobiles and tractors in winter?

In this, I cannot argue. It is EXTREMELY dangerous! But, as circumstance will have it, in my profession, these are the most likely times that we MUST go out there - to attend to the dummies who do drive when they really shouldn't. Driving in it is no cake walk, but can be done. We drive to get out to the accidents and we drive to get back. It's just too bad that 99% of those out there don't realize how tough it really is.

We had freezing rain all later afternoon and it is still falling.
Entire roads are covered in slush and ice. So dangerous to drive out there.

I am seriously considering second car, possibly 4x4 Jeep.
