wow poor miata!
There is a Miata parked where I work and the top is always down, but there is a cover that the driver puts over the cockpit. It covers the seats, dash and doors. It has a zipper so that just the driver side can be 'opened' (and I assume driven that way).
Is it possible this Miata had one of those covers?

When I was in college, I left my sunroof open and it began to rain while I was in class. When I came back, someone was nice enough to tape a bag over the hole.
On another occasion, I saw an early model LeBaron convertible with the top down when it began to rain. The inside looked like it had been chewed up by a dog and the foam from the seats was coming out between some duct tape fixes, but I decided to be nice and try to put the top up. After about 2 minutes of pulling on the damn thing and yanking, I could only get it halfway up. It wasn't a power top model, the top was just junky. Anyway, I got the back half of his car out of the rain

The windows were up, which would have meant I'd have to somehow jump over them or on the back trunk or somethign crazy. Then figure out how to operation the top which I'm sure is easy, but I've never been in the inside of a miata!!
The owner should have known better not to leave it out when it looks like this overcast and dark skies in WA lol!!! dude or maybe girl had balls or something.
