I know personally, I wouldn't feel comfortable hopping into a stranger's car.

The car's not made of sugar. It won't melt in the rain.

Yeah those have manual tops. You could have put it up...
YEAH!!! You D*CK!! j/k....

I had that happen to my '91 Miata bout 5 years ago. Shop vac took care of things pretty quickly once I got the seats out. Those cars are notorious for flooding anyways, as the soft top drains clogged really easily.

I didn't know it was manual. I would if I saw it.

I parked my car behind an audio shop (where their service bay is) and walked around to the front to let them know I was there. By the time we made it out back again, it had started raining.

It wasn't bad, but there had been no hint of rain and it was less than 10 minutes from the time I got out of the car until the time I had the top up.

Yeah I'm from WA to, and I never leave the top down even if the clouds don't look like much.
It's funny you should bring this up...I was in Seattle coming in from an Alaskan Cruise (about six years ago) and I saw a Ferrari 355 Spyder parked in the street. The top was down. I was 16 at the time, and I could not believe that anyone in Seattle would leave the top down with the car unattended...WITH A FERRARI!!!

Now the Miata may have been doomed already. I've seen Jeeps that are always top off...maybe the owner just gave up.

i used to have a miata and it POURED on one night when I was drunk at a bar and didnt notice. like hurricane remnants.

I looked outside after it had been been raining over 20 minutes (after a stranger at the bar was making fun of the dumbass who left his top down) and decided it wasn't worth killing my buzz.....if it was ruined, it was ruined!

the next day it was beautiful and I let it sit out all day with lots of towels throughout and it was pretty much OK, there was a little seat discoloration after that b/c the middles were suede

Regarding the zip cover or "true tonneau" as mentioned earlier, I believe somebody on this site tried making one in the past. One problem was the slope of the car meant that the water pools in an area above the radio(?) or something to that effect.
