My brother just bought a 2002 Red WRX. He already has it, and I am planning a trip down to my home town to see and drive it. We will likely race a few times, and we will drive each other's cars around. Hopefully I can try and form an objective opinion about the WRX since it seems that nobody is really sure about the whole S2000/WRX fiasco. I do know that the dealership my brother purchased his WRX from offered to connect him with a guy in CA that would install a $400 chip for an extra 65 HP (it seems that the turbo charger on the WRX is capped and it is relatively easy to remove the limitations with the chip). I know that my brother wants the chip, so we'll have to do a bunch of testing prior to his upgrade.
My one concern about the testing is that the tread is getting a little low on my rear S02's, and the high-RPM drops (7-8k) will spin the tires and let me hit the rev-limiter rather than getting traction and dropping the tach back to 6k or so. I guess I will just need to warm the tires up a little before any racing. Thankfully, my brother is a police officer in my small home town, so we won't have to worry about harassment during our "scientific" testing of these two automobiles.

MY two best friends have a Type R and a WRX.. our car just annihilates both of them. The Type R hangs real close in 1st and 2nd but when i hit third i am GONE.. The WRX i just slowly pull in every gear.. never raced it from a stop though...
