I just got an early Christmas present from my girlfriend, a Pioneer XM satellite radio setup. I am going to try to get it installed today. Has anyone had one of these installed before?

No experience with the radio but your user name caught my eye. "Not without labor" - brother.

I want to get that set-up, but am going to wait till better antennas come out. I believe there are glass mounts coming out sometime hopefully soon...

I believe that the glass mount antennas are already out. That is the one that I was shown.

yes i know of what you speak
did she get you the XM processor too, or just the head unit? if you have both, you can get an antenna (i can't believe they didn't sell her one at the same time) from terk that mounts on the trunk lid, but there's rumors of being able to mount it in the car somewhere; XM's position (as well as terk's) is that you have to mount it on an up-facing external surface. but then, if you don't have the processor, you're not going anywhere. once it's set up (any car install place can do it, i recommend tweeter even though it wasn't bought there), you call XM and give them a credit card # and you're up and running inside 15 min. any other q's, you can pm me.

She got me the processor and the head unit. There are two antennas out right now. One is a trunk mount and the other is a glass mount which goes on the windshield. I will probably put mine on the top middle section. It is smaller than the antenna on the S2000's, so it shouln't stick up that much, probably like a cell phone antenna. I am picking mine up today, and I will put some pictures of it on tonight or tomorrow.

that's NOT what he's selling - what he is selling is an FM modulated version of XM - it doesn't directly attach to anything - it plays through a predetermined FM station - it does NOT sound as good as a direct plug in, although it's great for an FM modulated signal... we carry them both at tweeter, and the direct plug in type is available from alpine with all parts for $799 installed. we'll be carrying an FM unit soon as well from sony that you can take from your house to your car and back... take your pick.
