95% of guest have saved that $50 by heeding advice. Ive saved people hundreds and hundreds of dollars in the electronics section, and if they didnt have access to me or someone like me, they would have spent much more money.
And many folks and COs give time and effort by opening up venues for car mods, car washes, etc. Many will help you install parts and mods for free, which can cost a lot to have done at a shop.

That's a lot of money saved.

ClubSI:

There are 173 registered and 103 anonymous users online.

That is 10% of the currently active users on S2ki.

BF.c is about the same size as S2ki though. Has a few more registered members, but what really matters is who is active and how often.

ps: why do people "postwhore"? where is the satisfaction?
Not sure, I think it may have to do with the "Today's Top 10 Posters" page...

Whenever there is a ranking, people will try to be at the top.

Wisconsin~ My point exactly... They make money, but no where do either of those sites ask their members for the money. They trail right behind S2Ki as 6th and 7th!!!
Xviper~ I can barely get through your post. No matter how you feel, my point has been made. If it offends you, so be it. Someone ruffling your feathers for a change.

Let's look at this... There are 46089 members here currently...
Let's say half those people have purchased just the basic $20 dollar membership. Whether half here are actual members or just over the last few years we have neted that many in first time and renewals.
That's $460,880.00!!!
& more people renew and or join everyday.
So you are telling me this site has cost a half a million dollars to run??

Sounds like someone is making a chunk of change to me. And more power to him if people want to continue shelling it out.

It sounds like you're pulling numbers out of your ass. Numbers that aren't realistic at all. I guarantee that nowhere near half of the members on this site have paid a membership fee. I'd guess its closer to 10%, but I'm making up numbers just as you are.

Also, even if your numbers were accurate, $500k spead over 5 years is 100k/yr. This site has to fully support one person full time, living in California. I'd assume a decent job doing web work there would pay $60-80k/yr if not more. Then you have to figure in the costs of startup equipment, monthly costs to run the equipment, upgrade costs, any additional staff, co-lo costs for the servers etc etc.

I bet you're one of those people who think that opening a restaurant is easy too. Hell, you can buy a steak at the store for $5, sell it for $20. $15 in your pocket every time someone comes in the door! There's no way to lose on that deal. Right?

Except restaurants have one of (if not THE) highest rate of failures for any business.

so what? so s2ki.com prefers to ask for donations from members to help support the site, instead of running the level of advertising that bimmerforums and clubsi use. what's your point???

lol i WISH we could even be within a STONES THROW of having half of those people be paid members. the number of actual paid members is TINY compared to the 46,000 "registered users" this site has. (actual paid members probably only make up about 2-3% of the "registered users".)

also, no one ever said we need $460,000 to run the site, so where are you coming up with that bs?

Sounds like someone is making a chunk of change to me. And more power to him if people want to continue shelling it out.
read above. educate yourself before you make such an inaccurate assumption.

bottom line is you obviously have no clue what goes on behind the scenes, so I'd think you'd be more modest and humble when posting such inaccurate assumptions and making such accusations. i think it's time to move on to the next thread. it's unfortunate that such a great thread showing support for the s2ki community has to be ruined by false presumptions.

Revenge is always the weak pleasure of a little and narrow mind.
