Default year 2001 s2k =) advise from guru here?

Am looking to purchase a year 2000-2001 s2k but as i read from tech sheets the earlier version of MY01 and MY00 has a prone problem with a bad differential like it will crap out early.

can anyone point out more problems to this version of s2k to help me choose the best one among the lot so i know what to look out for.

appreciate all the help i can get from fellow owners here =)

thanks a million

Only problem I can see is that you don't have one yet.

Check out the Introductions thread for more info for potential buyers.

Mine has 50k, no differential problem.

What I have seen bad is the shitty ECU that stalls and idles strange.

Apart from those, it has a big potential as it runs really rich, you can adjust and get as many as 15 ponnies to the wheels.

by the way, the rear window is a scandal.

diff will crap out on any s2000 if its abused. If not, theres a good chance it will last forever regardless of the year. I don't think 00/01 differential is any weaker than 02/03

you have the best year, you just don't appreciate the differences and are stuck on things you shouldn't care about can't see the window with the top down. Can't listen to the radio with the top down at 9k rpms anyway

01 here with 48k no diff problems. Like vtec9 said its how the owner treated the car not the actual car year. It might just seem like the older ones have the problems cuase theres more of them with high miles that would have more tendencies to break and or have problems. Just like any car. The older with more miles the more chance of something happening.
