Do some reading on here and you can make up your own mind.

From a standpoint of collectors items, the first year is usually the most desirable (MY2000)

From the standpoint of value 2002/2003 are the best buy (most car for the price and those years have some good improvements over 2000/2001).

From the standpoint of features and performance the 2008/2009 would take the cake but it comes at a premium price but then again many of the newer ones are in mint shape with lower miles.

Put your flame suit on....people are going to tell you to SEARCH since this debate has been beat to death!

I would say it really depends on what you want the car for. Most say that the '00-'01 are more "raw". I have personally owned a MY00, MY01 and now a MY04. I enjoy the '04 AP2 most, but I never track or race....just "spirited" mountain driving. The added torque/different gearing is very noticeable where I live (mile high city) and I love the looks of the AP2 over the AP1.

If I was only looking for an AP1, I would personally look for an '02-'03 strictly due to the addition of the rear glass window. The plastic window in the early AP1's was pretty horrible.

Tell us what you are going to use the car for and you will get more opinions...but they will just be opinions. Really the best way is to test drive a few different model years and figure what the best car is for you.

In that case you are better off with a 2000-2003 because you can buy them for $5,000 - $10,000 less than 2008 models and $10,000 in performance modifications beats having a newer car if you are just going to "screw around" with it.

yep, you're looking at the wrong car. If you want to corner over 1g and hit a straight line moderately fast, the S is great. If all you want is a dyno sheet to jerk off to and do some launches, get a different car.

I would say from a collector's standpoint the 09 model is by far the best, especially the CR edition, if it's made a garage queen. I rarely have even see any for sale. Otherwise, that really depends on your personal preference. For racing or drifting, that again is subjective, with positives going for each the AP1 and AP2. Best you can do is absorb all the info you get from searching, and make your own determination.
