sorry if this is in the wrong place, but I think its the most often checked place in the forum...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cgi/ebay...0959236&r=0&t=0

starting bids at 35220, which isnt that bad considering what some dealers charge these days...

It's been on the block for five days, and there are no bids; not much interest, I'd say.

wonder if its due to "Winter" coming up?

or just that people are finally sick of the price gouging...

From what I can tell, the bottom is dropping out of the s2000 market a bit. I've had dealers call me that 3-4 weeks ago were saying their rock bottom price on the car was 36k with offers to sell the car for 32-33k.

The car on ebay is actually near MSRP, given the options that are included.

Certainly the time of year is helping. I would expect a little spike next spring as supplies run low again and the weather improves.

The bottom has definitely dropped out of the S2000 market on eBay. Just go to eBay and search for "Honda S2000" and you'll see that 90% of the items up for bid has no bids. I remember a year ago when the eBay market for the S2000 was so hot that people were bidding $25+ just for the poster brochure.

I agree, jwarner, the supply is catching up with demand. And demand is not what it was a year ago. When the S first came out, the intial fervor for the car allowed the price gouging to be possible. Like the Miata when it first came out, and the VW Beetle and PT Cruiser, recently, and upcoming M3, the first ones will always pay more. The demand for these cars are just not high enough to support over MSRP asking price anymore. By now, no one should be paying over sticker. The ones who paid over sticker when they first came out did not get "ripped off", that was the market then (besides, they have been driving the car for the whole year, and that's priceless) ; the market now is sticker and below, like most other cars.

Spoken like a true economist, Mr. Too. I agree with you.

It's nice to see prices coming back in line. I have to admit that when I was shopping for one a few weeks ago, I became a little frustrated at the inflated prices and considered going with a different automobile.

I hope to pick up my s2000 in the next couple of weeks.

MSRP, oh really. Not in my local area. My price of $35000 for my Spa Yellow is so far the best I have found in my immediate area. My local Greer dealership wants a firm $36999 for a Spa Yellow on the floor. A Charlotte dealership called me with a price of $37500. Pompano Beach dealer emailed me $35999 firm. I am sure I could fly to a MSRP deal but I don't like flying. I figure with my MSRP deal on my first S2000 and my $35000 deal on the Yellow one I am averaging about $34000 per car. Not too bad.

I think that's definitely an exaggerated statement...I doubt many people will get theirs BELOW sticker. It also does depend on what part of the country you live in, some places will always charge higher than MSRP.

Dealers here are marking them up bigtime too...

that reminds me, I wonder if I should go back to the first Honda dealer I tried...

he has an 01 in Yellow on his floor. I'd love to talk to the sales manager who told me "The reason its called S2000 is because there are only 2000 made and it for the 2000 model year).

my car (#2771) dispells that, and the Spa yellow on his floor dispells that its a 1 yr only car... would love to see what his comeback would be
