Yet another newbie!
Wanted to say hello to everyone and to thank folks here for all the great information. I've been lurking for some time and am, indeed, impressed by the caliber of folks that reside here. I've never registered in a forum before but the friendliness and knowledge of the people here prompted me to do so. The folks that run this forum are doing a wonderful job. Have also enjoyed the S2KI site for the FAQs.
Am also excited by the number of people from around the world here. Amazing! The net is great...
A little history... before deciding on the S2K, I looked at a lot of the other roadsters over several months. Didn't get to drive many, but the literature and forums kept pointing me back to the S2K. Exciting design(classic roadster) with plenty of power for my needs and excellent road manners.
I called the dealership and ask if they had one on the lot. I was in luck - they had one on the show room floor and no one had any claim on it yet. So I made an appointment. It had 4 miles on the odometer when I started my test drive and 9 when I finished. I did have to put down money to indicate that I was serious - was applied to purchase of car. One drive was all it took. And it was RED, RED, Glorious RED - only color of sports car for me - just the romantic in me.
Purchased my S2K Jan 25, 2001 from MotorWerks in Barrington, Il at MSRP. No forced options.
Have driven the car only a little - just waiting for the first day I could drop the top. Since I telecommute, I don't drive all that much... but I'm going to be taking my full lunch break now; that is a certainy.
Washed it last night and cleaned the rear window with Plexus Got my Muz mat in the mail yesterday and had it under books to flatten it out over night (since it arrives rolled up). Slide the mat into the well today - didn't even use the stick down patches - didn't seem to need it(and it looks really good - got the red one!) Thanks to you folks(again) because I've already gotten most of the items needed to care for the car. I intend to keep it pretty much stock.
Well TODAY, 22-MAR-2001, was the DAY! The temperature at noon was about 52 fahrenheit, sky the color of the water off southwestern end of Isle of Cozumel, air as clear as crystal. Put the boot on for the first time and that was a bit of a challenge(for other newbies recommend doing this in a well lit place before putting the sunglasses on - at least the first time), but persistence paid off. I'm sure I'll get better at it as time goes on. Very little turbulence due to air wash. MY 2001 comes with the aero screen. I think that is standard now, yes?
The drive was EXCELLENT!!! A little wind in my face!!! Engine winding(but not too much yet). Shifting so smooth, and even though the gates are a little narrow, the shifter seemed to know where to go. WOW!!!! Never had a convertible or anything near this potent before. Don't have enough miles to VTEC yet, but getting there. Quite a step up from my '85 MR2(also red). But thought that car was excellent for its time in my life, too!
48 and feel like I'm going on 21... Huh-ooo, I feel a mid-life crisis coming on - NOT! Boy, does this car bring out the kid in me, though really, I guess, it never left me. Still a kid at heart and at play!!!
Once again thanks for all the great info and thanks to the people running this forum!

Welcome, RWS2K01. I applaud you on your color choice. You are correct, red is the only color for a sports car, especially a beautiful roadster such as the Stook. Others may disagree, but . . .
