Default Yet Another S2000 Cup Holder

I found a cup holder call "The Ledge". Very thick plastic. Very strong.
It's the type that hangs on your door and slips down the window slot. But . . . I had a different idea.

Here it is before the process. Can be found at Amazon for around $11.00.

Here is it showing the semi-circle piece that goes down the windows slot. We're going to cut that off

Shown here with the piece cut off.

Now, slip it under the console lip and mark the edge with a piece of masking tape.

Now cut out a small piece of the left-over we removed earlier and glue it on as seen below.
Position it about 1/10 inch from the masking tape to allow for the thickness of the s2k console plastic.
I used epoxy. It's the type where you mix the glue and the hardener together. Then I clamped while drying.

After the glue was dried, I cut off the rest leaving about 1/2 inch of the double thick part.

Then simply slip under the lip of your console.
Can be easily removed and re-inserted. Looks very clean and professional.
Enjoy!

Actually, The glue did not hold very well. I use Epoxy quite often with good results but it did not adhere very well here.

I went all in with Nuts and Rivets. Here's the final result. Works very well. So rather than the ridge of plastic, the thickness of the nuts holds the cup holder under the cupholder lip.

Its probably polyethylene or polypropylene, which are notorious for not playing nice with most glues and epoxies.

Loctite makes something specifically fpr these types of plastics.

loctite specialty epoxy
