You canadians are so lucky.
I guess the thinking is that MSRP + Hardtop here would be close to $36,000 and they get it for $34,400....other than that....yes, looks just like the one I pick up on Thursday. YES!!!!! Only 6 days!
At today's exchange rate, the yellow 2001Canadian package (with hardtop installed and car cover included) that's priced at $53,000 (CAD) would translate to $34,259.86 here. The full MSRP (including freight and the $100 a dealer would charge to install the hardtop wiring) would be $36,064, making the Canadian package a pretty good deal (and unfortunately still better than the under MSRP I'm paying for my yellow S2K plus hardtop, both of which are in transit).

Not all of us Canucks are so lucky! Try adding 7% PST, then 7% GST, then 3% luxoury tax for a total of 17% total tax you pay on a new Stook in British Columbia. We are taxed to death out in western Canada. Anyone else in North America pay this much tax on a car? Bush for President of Canada too!

As far as I know, the cars are almost identical for the Canadian and U.S. markets, so $1,800-2,000 is a pretty significant difference. The only real marketing justification for this difference that I can imagine is that S2000 sales are slowing down in Canada, and Honda wants to use a special edition to boost interest in the car.
This is a bit of a personal issue for me because "yellow with a hardtop" is exactly the package I have on order, but Honda is making me (and the dealer) jump through all sorts of hoops to put it together. Regardless of the pricing issue, it would have been a lot simpler
