You people are so NICE!
I do realise that all you guys are crazy about your s2000s.
BUT
How can you people put up with so many problems?
I was going through the board today for 30 minutes and what did I find?
1) #1 and #4 cylinder problems?
2) Rod?
3) Rattles?
4) etc etc
This is PATHETIC, Honda!
You people have paid around $35000 - why should you put up with it? I don't even own an s2000, and I am already getting sick of it!
Does anyone have any of the above problems with the 2001 model?

I think if you do the math on the number of problems and the number of S2000's you'll see it's not all that bad.
That said, I've had my short block replaced and the clutch fix but the buzz I get from driving this road legal go-kart makes these inconveniences inconsequential.

You have to remember that this is a forum of enthusiasts who know problems and will not hesitate to discuss them. However, it is far from being a scientific sample of experience with this car, since only a fraction of owners post here. That having been said, I'd add that a fair assessment of this board would conclude that owners are enthusiastic, love the car, and, in reality have few problems with the car that aren't out of the ordinary for any car, let alone a high performance sports car.
Rick pretty much summed it all up.
Personally, I have had my first year car back at a Honda dealer on three separate occasions for four different TSBs and I do not consider this to be a big deal. The S2000 is not a problem car. In fact, it just seems to get better with time.
There are very few complex projects that have been made "generally available" and have not suffered some initial problems. The final judgement on quality should be based on how well the manufacturer responds to these problems.
Honda has done a very good job, in my opinion.

I don't mine making the occaisional trip to the dealer (2 trips in 14 months, TSB54 and the seat belt recall).
Considering the type of car we are dealing with, I think that is not too bad. Heck, I had always told myself I would never buy another 1st year model! Had a bad experience with the Vega I bought new back in the early 70's!

Well said Rick. I was a bit apprehensive about the car after reading this board for a month, but realized many of these people are more in tune with their cars than, well, probably anything else in their lives! I feel quite naive reading some of their posts - as this is my first true sports car, and it took me a while to figure out what all they where talking about (oem, mugen, sc, etc...), but their passion for excellence with the car makes ANY problem seem large. Most (as well as I) are so excited to have this awesome machine. And from what I have read, Honda makes good on the problems.
Not like its a Pinto hatchback that explodes at 15 mph rearends...!

The other thing to consider is that people who haven't had problems don't go out of their way to post how reliable their cars have been. We generally only hear from those who have had some type of problem. I've never seen a thread with the topic saying "My car is a year old and has run flawlessly!!" Though I bet they are the majority by FAR.
