This has been pointed out a number of time before, but...

The forum is a place to come with their problems to try and find answers/solutions. There is not a lot to gain from posting "my car started right up and ran fine all day" so, you will read more about things going wrong than right.

What Rick said.

I'm on my second s2k and, aside from the crash caused by someone pulling in front of my first one, I've had no problems.

Actually, there was a thread along that line not too long ago.

jackgarlic: your father must be a top bloke, no doubt about it!
I graduated a few months ago with an LLB and still looking for a freaking job (always the story in NZ - your father would know all about it).

Anyway, in reply for all the other comments, I do realise that you people are enthusiastic about the car and that you will talk about any problems as they come up. However, the fact that s2000 is a high performance sports car and not a car made for the masses is no excuse. Also, pintos never had $35,000 price tags on them.

Admittedly, people buy sports cars with their hearts and not their brains but you guys are still VERY FORGIVING. Let me guess, there aren't too many people divorced on this board, right?

I can see from the posts that most of the problems have arisen with first year models, so the problems are not going to persist in the future. Hopefully not when I finally get it.

LOL. No, but with the amount of time we spend on this board and in our cars some of us are pretty close .

No matter how many problems there are it seems, not everyone gets all of them and it's pretty widespread across an international basis. Hell, I won't doubt that other cars from other manufacturers have just as many if not more problems accordingly. Then again, there are some and quite a majority of us on the board that have a problem free car. It's just how you see it. Since you're in NZ, you have definitely a very wide range of grey imports of basically anything under the sun as long as you have the money to ... No doubt, everything is J-Spec mostly so there is little or no comparisons.

Many on these lists are also more picky... Any enthusiastically driven manual transmissioned car is likely to have a higher ratio of transmission/clutch related problems too...

And therein lies the problem. If you owned it, you would never get sick of it.

No problems with mine! I Vtec every signle gear all the way to 8900 RPM, with exception for 5th gear. Well I only did it a few times for top speed. Oil ever 2k for my S2k and 'Sharky' is happy.
