You Will Not Believe This - Incompetent Honda Technicians
What is WRONG with this picture?

Finally after one oil change and several trips to the dealership to get the lights adjusted correctly my Honda service writer tells me that they FORGOT TO REMOVE THE TEMPORARY SHIPPING SPACERS in the suspension! The car went about 5 months and 4000 miles without us knowing this was the situation!!! Talk about incompetence on the part of the technicians! The car finally looks good with about 1.5 inches less wheel/fender gap in the front and rear. The car corners sooo much better now! I feel sick to my stomach and happy at the same time.
The first question is could there be any damage to the springs or the shocks because of the improper ride height? Thank god the car was never autoXed in this sick condition.
Okay, to make the situation more complicated I ordered the Mugen N-zero suspension for $3,300 from King Motorsports before I knew about the problem (they are in the process of being shipped from Japan right now - I can

Damn why does the front tire look so much bigger than the rear?
What a shame that you had to drive your S2K around in this sad condition. As for the dealership paying for the new suspension, I'd say not very likely. What I would do is write the General MAnager and Service Manager a letter stating your feelings and hope they compensate you in some way. Who knows, you may get a year or two free oil changes or something...but then again, you may not want your car back in their hands...

Very incompetent indeed ... But for Honda to pay for your new Mugen suspension, I seriously doubt so. I'll be better off asking to pay for free lube changes, or tyres, or something related to the handling that is from the genuine Honda range. You could try and claim it on some grounds but other than which, anything of the following have very slim chances. In such a case, any aftermarket parts will definitely not be paid by Honda in any given situation.
Even though the car comes with a tag on it saying that damage can result from driving over 12mph with the spring spacers in place, AHM will not do anything about the issue. Maybe your dealer will provide some remedy.
I found mine after over 2000 miles and wrote a detailed letter to AHM. I got a call back with many assurances that it won't hurt anything. I suspect that some of the issues I have had with the stock springs and suspension are related, but without a reasonable ear at Honda I have just gone forward.
I certainly believe your story about incompetent technicians. Not only were spacers left in my springs, but the air dams and shipping hole plugs were thrown away. Better keep checking when you go to that dealership.

Has anyone discovered a way to tell how a dealer will treat you AFTER you buy the car? I relied on word of mouth, sales men, and what I saw... but my service dept. is the worst. Please let me know...
Two points:
1. I think the "damage" would be catastrophic (like a broken suspension or mounting point) not cumulative (as in shows up later. I think you'll be fine.
2. Stick around, you'll be shocked at what we'll believe.

You can tell a dealers quality by asking to see their TSI numbers. If they are below national average then they pretty much suck.
I do believe the idiocy it takes to treat a car this way because I work in a dealership with its share of morons. The hard part is finding a tech you like and trust. once you do that take it to him/her and request them always. It is definatly a good idea to meet the tech and get to know him. HINT: Bring the tech cookies or donuts one day, he will be your friend for life. HINT #2: I work at Empire Honda,5601 East Colfax, Denver CO.
right now my personal numbers for tsi are around 90 % satisfied. The shop I work for is almost dead last in the zone because of the clowns I work with. Most of whom are no longer there because of their piss poor quality and attitude. I try really hard to make every car that comes through my stall leave fixed, and clean. I look at it like this: "Would I want that ass clown working on my S2000?" There are only about 4 techs in Colorado I would let touch my car If I had to, and even then, I would bribe them with food or beer.

My dealer, or rather my service writer, has always exceeded my expectations. I've never been disappointed in my service. The technicians seem to be competent, and are attentive to my concerns/worries.
