Is this Yr.2000 S2000 a good deal?
I'm trying to figure out why the top left of the engine bay is covered in that metal box thing. I looked at a picture of a non-modified S2000 and it isn't covered?!
turbo_pwr: thanks for the tip. I should be able to see the suspension coils (goldish colour) and such by just bending over and looking between the wheels and the arch of the body, right? Aren't the stock ones goldish anyway?
I'm still wondering about that fold crease in the plastic rear window... wonder if there is anything i can spray on or something to fix that... or at least make it less noticable?

It always scares me when someone sells a car and they get simple things you should know wrong (i.e. 18" instead of 17" wheels, "radio cassette with CD changer.") I am pretty sure Cd player is standard on the S2k.
The car looks fine, BUT I would not trust what the seller is telling you. Try and get ahold of the previous owner. He will know everthing you need to know in regards to the aftermarket parts etc.

Plexus will clean up the window, as for the fold/crease if it is just a line some hot water will tighten it up and make the line disappear.
Now for the shocks, granted I haven't seem mine in a couple of years but I know it wasn't gold/bronze color when I removed them. It's a very noticable difference.

stlvtec - I think they mean the 6 disc cd changer which is an option. edited - I am postive that's what they meant you can see it in the picture of the trunk.

Ok I am looking at the pictures more carefully now. A couple of observations. The picture of the MF10s you can see near the top of the rim you can see a gold/bronze spec behind the brake rotor. That should be the Mugen N-Zero suspension.
The picture with the steering wheel on the left hand side right below the spoke of the wheel you can see somekind of adjustment device. My guess is that it looks like the Defi Link Control Unit for the gauges on the A pillar. Which would add another $600 USD in gauges and control unit.

turbo_pwr: THANKS! I must say... just from the pictures, you've come to so many conclusions!!
I am very grateful for the tips. Sigh... you know how it is... you save money for years... only to buy something, THEN find out it's a dud or buggered in some way :-/
Anyway, the dealer's garage is going to offer 1 year free guarantee, so if there is any problem, i'm covered in that regard (sort of... i still don't want it to break down in the first place!)
Thanks for the tip regarding the plastic rear window.
You are also right... it has a "Defi Link Control Unit"... I jotted down the words "Defi" while I was test driving (because i noticed those words there). The right side of the car going up along the front windscreen, there are two guages... an "Oil Temperature" and "Oil Pressure" guage. Are these useful for anything, or are more for "eye candy"?
I also read the "Maintanence" section of s2ki, and i'm going to read s2000.org for more tips on how to maintain and look after the car.
Do you know of any sites that have maintanence tips and stuff?

Remember people this is a right hand drive car as HK passes on the left just like in Japan and UK. The NSX has shorter gears in japan then in the US and this may be the case for Japan S2000s also but I'm not sure on this.
