0 compression on cylinder number 1
Well my engine threw a misfire code. Previously I over reved blah check engine light was flashing. Thought my valves were bent.
Today the valve cover got taken off and compression test.
Every cylinder had compression of around 235 but cylinder number 1. Cylinder number 1 had no compression at all. The mechanic says its possibly beause of the valves bending or cracking fuel isnt getting in there or it isnt firing(I cant remember specifically). He says the block be be fine but worse comes to worse it could be done. The head appeared to be fine but he has to open it up on Tusday and drain the oil.
edit: or he said the valves werent pressing down so it wasnt makign compression.
<----Im an idiot who just pays to get stuff fixed I sit behind a desk all day.
Please pray for me.

even when your valves don't open you have compression happening.
compression numbers have nothing to do with fuel as the test is done on a motor with no spark plug so no ignition happens.
the test only measures the pressure generated inside the cylinder. zero compression is a bad thing. You probably have a bent valve which is lettin all the air escape, thus not making any pressure in the cylinder.

I'm hoping a piston isn't cracked for a cylinder scored from debris in the cylinder or the initial impact at oh...10-11k rpms...
We'll find out as soon as I get the head off.

so did you check his valves then? did you check the retainers?
next is a leak down test to comfirm your suspicions. most likely llike everyone else said, bent valve, i overrevved my h22 when it was allmotor and bent every exhuast valve. yes, i am an idiot. but wasnt that hard to replace all of them and slap the head back on. good luck man.

I couldn't really see any cracks, but I just took a glance and felt the rockers after it was off. We're pretty sure its the exhaust side valves that are bent, when running you get a few "sucking" feelings from the exhaust pipe then a few pushes.
The head and all is to come off as soon as I get it to my house.
