Default 01 S2000 Rear Right End Noises.....

Hello everyone, I'm was wondering anyone had any suggestion or solution to fixing my problen on my 01 S2000. I have about 63k miles. The clunking noise and the squaking noise sounds like it's coming from the rear right side of the car. On the clunking noise, when you're on the freeway and you release the gas, it's starts making and clunk noise just for a split second then gone then back to noise and then gone when you've slowed down. Now when you slow down at slow speeds rolling, then you start to here the squaking sound from the same right rear side. I tried re-torqueing the the axle nut like everyone says to do, but I'm still hearing the clunking noise and the squaking noise. Can someone help me please? It's also very annoying. I kind of want to take it to the dealership now cause I'm clueless of this problem. Also, another thing, when you lift the car up and run it, the sound does not come back. It seems as if it only occurs when the car is down the driving. My S2000 is still stock, not lowered yet, but I do have some rims on it. Please, can someone give me some advice to this problem. Thanks.

but I do have some rims on it.
Those wheels DO have the proper lugs on then and are toqued to spec right?

From what you describe it could also be the CV.
Do you hear any noise with the back of the car up, spinning wheels and then apply some parking brake?
Be carefull doing that.
Make absolutely sure the car cannot fall of the jack stands!

Let us know what you find.

I did lift my rear end up on a alignment rack and ran it, but no noises. It only makes those noise when the car is on the ground and driving. I just had my rear end axle nut torqued to 225. I heard that stock torque on the axle nut is on 180.....You know, I haven't tried to run the rear end up with the ebrake on yet. Is there going to be any difference with ebrake on or not. Hopefully you guys can help me to resolve this problem......Also, is it still safe to drive or should I just park it until the problem is fixed? Let me know. Thanks.

had this same problem. about a few months ago, on a long road trip. it started out as a squeal, then after a few hundred miles turned into the most horrible creak at low speeds. well, had no choice to but to drive, still had about 300 miles to go in the trip. took it to honda, they retorqued the axle nuts. and of course, it went away. well, almost. a few weeks after honda did the retorque, i started to get a click/clunk when from a stop into hard acceleration, or even taking hard right turns from a stand still. its been doing this for the past few weeks, but not as bad as it used to. already purchased the hub and bearing, but like someone stated above, maybe that wasnt the case.

It will put some load on the drive train.
It provides some resistance, as if you were driving.
Otherwise your wheels (and drivetrain) are just "spinning free".
Worth a try IMO.

Also, is it still safe to drive or should I just park it until the problem is fixed?
Trying to diagnose a sound online is almost impossible.
Without hearing it it is also impossibe (IMO) to give any advice if you should still drive the car or not.
That is up to you... sorry.

If it is related to the Hub torque and/or CV you could get it replaced for free since there is a TSB on the subject.

My squeaking came back a few times.. Just have to keep re-greasing. I had my inner cv joints good willed by Honda at 68k
