Default 04 AP2 tranny vs 05-08 AP2 tranny

Hi All,

Seems as though I read somewhere that there is a difference between an 04 tranny and 05-08 units.

Can anyone enlighten me about this.

Thanks, Cal

Don't think there is any.....as far as I know, all AP2 trannies are the same. And to back that theory....they all have the same part number through Honda, so that would seem to confirm it.

1-4th will feel shorter on the ap2 due to the primary reduction gear. Synchros are also carbon coated on the ap2 vs brass on the ap1. Not sure why they would have the same part number

I thought I read somewhere that the 04-05 AP2 transmission was the only years that you could swap back into an AP1... something about how the output/companion flange on the AP1 wasn't compatible with the 06-up AP2's... I guess this is false? Will the AP1 companion flange swap onto ANY AP2 transmission, making the retro-swap possible with ANY year AP2 transmission?
