when I push the clutch in and initiate the 1-2 shift I get a definate thud after the shifter has passed the gate #2 and before the clutch pedal has begun to be released. Anyone have a clue? its an 01 supercharged with 23000 miles on it..

 

Does the same thud occur when sitting at a light and you go to shift into first with the clutch pedal depressed?

If so, adjust your clutch pedal.

it only does it when the vehicle is moving and shifting inbetween one and two; a loud thud from around the rear diff.

 

i get a slight thud when shifting from 1st to 2nd when the car is not warmed up yet.

 

I get the exact same thud, I know precisely what you are talking about. I suspect it is clutch related as well, but don't know what it could be. Would love an answer too.

i think all or most s2000 has problems shifting smoothly... i can be wrng but it seems that way
