Default 100 Octane

Had to get an emergencyfillup and strayed from Chevron to 76 here in LA, and saw 100 Octane Racing Fuel. Was wondering what kind of performance I can expect from 100 Octane gasoline?

(At $5.99 a gallon, it better be greased lightning)

I tried a 5Gal can of 101, I put in a gallon at a time with each fill up, just to raise the octane up a little..and It made some differnce. it fun to try, and made me feel like a wanna be racer.

I found 'race gas' on the web, and most hot rod shop will have it. call up your local petroleum distributor.

I was personally surprised to see it, as California only has 91 (until I saw 100) available.

Anyone in Cali try this stuff?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't you not suppose to mix different octance which can cause damage to the car, or is that just my misconception? I know you can mix Nitrous with gas for that short burst of energy during drag races. But in the long run, it's still bad for the car. It's like pressing that NOS button all the time.

I never heard of that. as far as I know you can raise it up by addeng a higher octane gas to a lower octane gas, and raise it up a few points. depending how much you add.

Sunoco stations used to dispense five different octanes by mixing something at the high octane end and something at the low octane end, so it should be fine - provided each gasoline by itself is okay for the car.

Thanks for the search tip!
