Any leaded fuel will damage 02 sensors, and Catalytic convertors. You have to read the labels. Some 100+ octane "race fuel" can be leaded or unleaded.

Just to chime in here on this... I've always been one of those doubtful people as far as what your getting for the money at the pump... Hence my reluctance to shell out the Xtra for premium gas.. In the 3700 hundred miles I've had MY04, I've used ** 1 ** tank of premium (the first fill up). Every tank since has been regular grade and I've never heard so much as one knock out of this car... VTEC or no.

that's because our engines come with knock sensors. it will pull back the timing if someone, like yourself, puts regular in when it is supposed to have premium. regular gas simply can't handle the heat generated by the compression ratio in our engines. octane rating is a rating of how resistant the gas is to heat/detonation. our car's high revving nature and high compression rate dictate the use of premium octane.

the effects of what you are doing is worse gas mileage, and you're also losing power. the reason you never "hear" any knocking is because our cars have an oversensitive (almost to the point of paranoid) knock sensor. your timing has been retarded to compensate for the fact that you're not using premium.

i am amazed some people actually do this. while the knock sensors protect people from their own ignorance, they are not completely 100% gauranteed. you'll still get some knock, particularly at higher rpm, and this can cause damage in the long run if you continue on this path. you bought a $33,000 roadster. why some people think it's ok to use regular to save a few cents every fill up is beyond me. you spent all this money on a sports car, AND spent all this money on mods, yet you skimp on the gas? the effects of those actions are far worse in the short term (poor mileage, power lost) and the long term (possible damage), and not worth saving some change every time you fill up.

i feel bad for your car and for whoever buys your car after you sell it.

Let me echo Wisconson loudly.......you are killing the car my friend. The differance in price per tankful is about 3 bucks! Are you crazy! Put premium fuel inthat beautiful Berlina, sorta like going out with a goddess....to a hot dog stand

If there was *EVER* a N/A car that needed premium, it's ours. With our ridiculous compression ratio, you'd be knocking like crazy without the ecu retarding your timing. I have no idea what the actual HP & MPG difference will be, but it's going to be there. In a car built for pure performance, this is just wrong.

100 RON octan is more like 93-94 in USA octan
So you should use 99-100 RON alwayz.

I use 99 RON in my S/C car(highest I can get here)

I would go into detail about how what your doing is retarded...but wisconsin and everyone else has taken the words out of my mouth.
