15w-30 performance oil?
well i spoke with honda and they told me it would be ok to put 15w-30 in my car because of ther high temps in fl. it wouldn't hurt at all. they told me if i drive my car hard everyday i should go ahead and do it.
Hmm. I guess the guy that was given 5W-20 by his dealer should go ahead and stick with it. (https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...=&postid=946292)

"use mobil ones 15w-30 it says on the bottle its for high performance engines which i think our engines are"
so does that mean it's ok to use 15W40 or 20W50 or W60 simply because the bottle says "for high performance engines"? i'm going to sound like an @$$ when i say this, but how the hell do you get by day to day with this kind of common sense?
i swear this is just like when people come up to you saying
them: "hey how many horsepower does that Honda have...?"
me: "240"
them: "nah man that only has like 180.. it's only a 4 cylinder"
WHY THE HELL DO YOU ASK QUESTIONS THAT YOU ALREADY BELIEVE YOU HAVE THE ANSWER TO?! [caps because insistent morons are incredibly annoying.] mods: feel free to delete my post.
i didn't say i have the anwser thats why i asked, i also didn't say i was going to do it, i just said that honda said it would be ok. i know a lot about our cars. by the way our cars do not male 240hp if your so bright you would know that. most stock produce anywhere from about 185 to about 200 to the wheels. i know to use 10w-30 but my father just boughta brand new 911 twin turbo and the car says to use 10w-30 but porsche recomends using the 15w-30 if your drive the car hard in hot weather, i was wondering if our cars where the same. a simple question. thats what this board is for, to get anwsers to simple questions that we wonder the anwser too. but then you get the people who think they know everything i.e. (YOU) and get all pissy when someone ask a question they don't like.
next time just don't repley on a post you don't like and you won't bother yourself so much
have a wonderful day

Just out of curiosity where did you see the 15w-30 at? I am usually up on the latest oils and I have seen Mobil 1 in the following weights:
0w-30
5w-30
10w-30
15w-50
but I have not seen a 15w-30 and I live in Florida also (as well as spend a large amount of time in NC, now that I think about it I haven't seen this weight from any other manufacture as well. Have seen 15w-40.). My two cents worth on the oil issue: you have to make the decision (on what to use) depending on your driving. If you drive "normal"- sane most of the time, letting loose every now and then 10w-30 is fine. If you race or are in the high rpm range (VTEC) a lot you may need to think your oil choice through (location temps, etc).
