No need to race anyone. Punch it on the next on ramp when no one is around and you'll find the rev limiter soon enough. Scared the crap out of me the first time.

The rev limiter won't save your engine if you miss a gear and hit one too low. 5th to 4th and hitting 2d will ruin your day.

definitely wouldnt check while racing. But definitely plan on doing it on an empty road til it cuts. Always a crazy feeling when that happens lol

This is an interesting one! Wonder if he's got an F20C stroker? Maybe the previous owner threw a rod and rebuilt an "F22" from an F20 block?

Before redlining it, pull the kick panel and see whether it's an OEM ECU. You might even be able to tell if it's '00-'03 or '04-'05 (look for a part number). If it's aftermarket, all bets are off as far as what's in that motor.

Oh, and the trans should have a VIN plate visible from under the car, so you can check to see if it matches your car.

where does your tack redline? 9000 would be an ap1, 8200 is an ap2
doubt the guy swaped engines and left the tack alone/dash alone.
more photos of the car might help? interesting issue.

You don't have to be moving to find the redline. Probably safer to do it parked.
