2006 s2000 brakes/caliper
Good Afternoon
i am reaching out to you to see if you could help me out or point me in the right direction. My 2006 Honda s2000 front driver side brakes / caliper is giving off a lot of heat and is also giving an Oder of some sort, i did some research to trouble shoot the problem and its either the caliper is seized causing a friction on the rotar. From my understanding this could lead to much bigger issues, i am not a mechanic at all but i am very eager to learn about my vehicle and want to do my own work. i guess my question to you is have you ever had an issue like this ? and if so how did you go about fixing it ? i am a big fan of what you do and i want to make sure i do it the right way.
Thank you very much Patrick McGuire

If you don't have experience wrenching I would recommend that you start on something other than brakes. Not that they are difficult. But the safety issue is huge. I suggest you bring your car to a good s2k mechanic and have that repair taken care of right away. It should not be to difficult or expensive assuming you do it immediately. Or, if you have a friend who has some experience, maybe you could do the job with the friend's assistance.

I suggest you post a new thread in the regional forum covering your area asking for a referral to an experienced s2k mechanic. That would be my first choice re how to proceed.
Some will disagree with this - but - in my opinion, a local Honda dealer, (or any decent mechanic for that matter), could do this particular repair without too much worry. I would not necessarily give all s2k repair work to a Honda dealer or general mechanic. But, this particular problem is not unique to the s2k.
While I have your attention. Since you have an 06 s2k, and unless you know it has been done recently, I strongly recommend that you have someone experienced with the s2k check your valve gaps, record the gaps, and then do a valve adjustment if needed. I recommend you get this done asap. The 06-09 cars are prone to tight valves which can lead to burned valves if not correctly promptly. This is a job that should go to someone with real experience with s2k valve adjustments. If you can't find anyone, a Honda motorcycle mechanic will be able to do it.
