3 days of torcher ...
Hey my friends
Yesterday i finally gave the recently purchased f22 motor to my mechanic. Even though i wanted to try this swap my self, i felt unsure of the whole process. My question to you guys is the following/ He told me he cant guarantee anything because he doesnt know where i purchased the motor. What things can go wrong with a swap like this?/
Now i am going to be looking over hes work making sure nothing is left out. What pointers can you guys help me with ? Maybe problems frequently encountered. check engine light. Setup is going to be f22 right into 2002 car 2002 ecu and ap1 tranny. It sound be a simple process but i just want to make sure everything is covered
Thanks in advance
I have searched countless hours. I just want a more personal answer.

I was just looking into this the other day too. From what I saw if you are using the 02 ecu you will have problems with the engine running lean; also you will be exceeding the max rotational speed for that engine if you hit 9k rpms. Most of the guys I read about had a vfac or something like that on their car to fix the leaning out problem, and modifry's shift timer to keep from hitting 9k rpms.

9k hurting the engine is debatable. Many run the F22 at 9k without issue.

Not for long, they don't. It will not last 100K miles, that's for sure. Most people have limited to 8500 rpm on the 2.2L motor. At 9K rpm, you're getting significantly faster piston speeds compared to the F20C and you'll want a built bottom end to sustain that.
