3pc Wheels... What's the hype???
I just finished reading the Ferrari Enzo, and how Ferrari went totally overboard with their car. They wanted to 'over do it' and created this car with everything they know today. The same goes with the Porsche Carrera GT! But on both cars, I didn't notice any 2pc or 3 pc wheels. What gives? Are forged wheels better than these 2~3pc wheel setups? If that's the case, I'm pissed since I've got 2pc wheels but was led to believe that it was the ultimate setup!
2pc and 3pc with forged centers are very light, they however are not as strong, u have a good wheel, but the best I think are magnesium, when u see formula one cars with three peice wheels then u will know that that is the best.
wantone - a 2 piece wheel is where the center of the wheel and the rim are separate.
a three piece wheel is two pieces that make up a VERY wide rim portion. typically anything 9.5" and up is a 3 piece wheel.
also, take note - your sig picture is H U G E and doesn't work as a linked image. might want to try using your s2ki photo album.

I also believe that the multi piece wheels became popular because of the ease of fitment and offset.
Its a lot easier for a wheel manufacturer to make a multi pece wheel with certain offset and width then to make a whole new 1 piece wheel with particular sizing.

Most of the 3 piece rims I've seen are pretty heavy...Having extra rivets, etc, add a lot of weight.

yeah, i think titanium fastners are even an option
As far as the hype question goes... I have 9.5 inch rear wheels with a 73 mm offset.. I don't think to many of the forged one piece wheels come close to having as good of an offset
Also the wheels are very light... especially considering they are 18's in widths larger than stock.

Also, all the figures I can find on Kinesis Wheels show they are 19-20 lbs....heavier than stock.
