Lately ive noticed that everytime i shift into 3rd, it doesnt slide in smooth. I get the feel like when i shift theres like something in the way, 1st slides right in, 2nd, then 3rd gets the bump about half way, 4th 5th and 6th are fine. Is this normal?

 

The odd shifting into 3rd happens no matter how you shift? Short-shifting, regular, high RPM?

Its strange... i guess it only happens on cold starts?? I drove it to the store got home, then headed out again and it was perfectly fine.
Ill let you know what it does tommorow morning when i head out.

 

Did you recently change tranny fluid?

 

Yea its probably been like... 30k miles since the diff and tranny fluid was changed

 

Whatcha running in the tranny?

 

30K miles means whatever you're running in the trans is a bit worn. Try changing fluid first. Then grease the shifter second. Then just forget it and go on living your life third.

 

The owner before me did it, and the cars runs fine once its worm. So i guess it is just cold starts

 

my trans (04) always shifts better when warmed up,it's notchy in 2nd sometimes when cold, and can pop out of first when starting out when very cold....has happened but it's not usual....3nd just starting to be an issue could mean there is a need to bleed the clutch, or replace the clutch, a worn 3nd gear snycro is not out of the question, but if it's ok when warmed up then i would not worry, just keep an eye on it.
