I have a '00 with 86k on the clock with a slight 3rd gear grind. I've noticed it occurs when I run thru the revs, but not when I'm just taking it easy and shifting very slow. It grinds on upshift and downshift, if I'm goin thru the revs. But on throttle blip downshifts theres no grind. I'm hoping that a 3rd gear synchro replacement isn't necessary, since that would be $$$. Any ideas?

 

There is a recall on earlier models. AP1s had issues with 2nd and 3rd gear syncro. I can't take mine in now because I've modified my car heavily. Check in the recall section to see if you qualify.

 

I didnt see anything in the recall section regarding my 3rd gear issue, just 2nd, 4th,5th and reverse.
Im definately out of warranty too

 

ya mine will grind when i go from 2nd to 3rd if im at like 9k. but i doesnt slip or anything just feels horrible when it happens so i keep 3rd just under rev limit and no grinds lol

 

yah that sounds like what I'm just gonna have to do until I have the money to get it fixed...or source a tranny on the here.
