Default 3rd gear grind from neutral.

this doesn't happen when going from neutral into any other gear. only into third.
when if you try to double clutch rev match from 4th to 3rd. it will grind.
i'm guessing that this is not normal. and wondering if anyone knows why this happens?
or if there is a tsb to fix this.

If the transmission was skip-shifted (going from 1st to third) it will wear out the 3rd gear syncro early. I would drain the trans fluid and look for gold powder...

If there is, I'd say your 3rd gear syncro is shot.

If not, with any luck, you have disc drag and 3rd gear grind is amplified for what ever reason. Clutch fluid, adj, or rusted splines.

I guess I'll have to take it to the dealer ship soon.
Hopefully the tranny fluid would do it.
But if it is synchros or disc drag .
Would those be expensive fixes?

When you push in the clutch, the clutch disc should spin freely between the flywheel and the pressure plate. If not, you have disc drag. This will allow the mainshaft of the trans to continue turning in neutral, and cause gear grinds.

Disc drag is caused by a clutch that is not disengaging all the way (adjustment or fluid/hydraulics/air), or by a rusted spline on the transmission.

damn thats what my issues is then, cause i can feel the transmission turning. checked every for leaks, like the slave cylinder and master cylinder. the clutch grabs fine though.
would the clutch drag make the shift knob feel really loose and make shake like crazy???
Either way the transmission needs to come off right??
