Default Gear gets stuck randomly

While the car is at a standstill, during a red light or in a parking space, the shifter sometimes gets stuck out of first gear. It feels like their is something in the way or that the shifter just hits a wall. To get it into first I can do three things: back out to neutral and then into first, back out to neutral, release the clutch, then into first, or go to second gear and then into first. What do you think I should do about this problem?

The gears don't grind and shifting is smooth otherwise. Clutch fluid is full and the transmission fluid was changed sometime last summer. Any ideas?

Maybe 1st gear syncho is starting to wear out. If you blip the throttle in neutral, clutch out --> then, clutch in --> does this help the tranny engage into 1st?

I am not sure. This happens like maybe 10%-15% of all first gear shifts. When it happens again I will try that method. I usually get it into gear by going to second first if it gets stuck. The car has 107,000 miles.

I know my car transmission starts to stick when my fluid is going south. I'd make sure you're usong Honda OEM fluid. Also check for fluid leaks too. You can do that with the finger test in the tranny, or drain it and verify that what you drained is the correct amount of fluid (I think it's 1.5 qt, but someone has the exact amount posted somewhere on here)

Being that you said otherwise your shifts are smooth, makes me believe it may be fluid related at a standstill. Otherwise you're looking at a more in-depth problem most likely.

Is this issue only when the vehicle is cold? Or do you still have the same symptoms when it has warmed up?

It would happen when the transmission is hot but the weather is cold. I am not sure if temperature is a variable, but I would suspect that the transmission is warm after going down the highway. It would just happen at random times.
