#4 problems..
Ok, I was doing some search and I read up on some threads about the #4 cylinders scoring or tapping sounds. I take care of my s2000, I hardly drive it. Just on the weekends I get to drive it. Now I'm kinda scared that its going to happen to me. I read up on the spark plug issue and I checked on them the minute I read it. #2 and #4 were kinda of loose so I'm glad I check on it.
It seems that most 4 cylinder engines with our type of manifold have a lean #4 issue. In simple terms it is due to the manifold ending at the #4 cylinder rather than having a "reservoir" that goes past the cylinder. The air deadends which forces more air down the #4 cylinder because the air has no other place to go.
I wouldn't worry about it as it isn't common enough for any of the manufacturers to design a different manifold. Yes probs happen, but not frequently enough to lose sleep over. I guess to put it into perspective I could say you'll have more low oil issues than this. Not a common problem at all.
Now if you are tuning with VAFC or other tuning tool for a leaner burn or adding FI then you'd have to worry.

Yeah I read about the Spark Plug recall and noticed that the previous owner didn't change out the sparkplugs. I also did a search on the best sparkplugs to get and read everyones opinions about different sparkplugs they tried. I decided to get NGK Platinums (even though their like $45, but beats paying for a new motor). Once I get the new spark plugs I know to torque it 18ft lbs from what I read. The day I got the car I changed all the oils (after searching threads about what oils is best for each parts). Right now the motor sounds good, it doesn't idle rough and its really smooth. It has 43,220 miles.
