Default Rear Window Damage

I have split my rear window on my Year 2000 S2K. I have phoned a Honda dealership who have quoted 1,860.00 GBP's for a new roof (fitted) as they cannot replace just the single rear panel.

Has anyone in the community replaced just the rear panel?
Does anyone know who can provide this type of specialist service?

Message End.

I think they just don't want to or don't have the experience or knowledge to do so. According to the Helm manual, only the window piece can be replaced. It's still a lot of work but this can be done. In fact, this section can be purchased as a separate item:

You only need a whole new soft top if you elect to go with the glass rear window. I think those guys at your dealer is just plain lazy or just plain ignorant.

This happend to my 00 as well. I started a post a few weeks ago about it. Honda quoted me a price of $887 plus tax to replace only the rear window and $1100 for an aftermarket softop. The window itself costs about $270 and I have the instructions to replace it. I don't think I want to attempt the install myself but I also dont want to pay $900 for a new piece of plastic. The service rep at Honda told me that an 02 glass window softop could not be installed on my 00 because of the way it folds down but I have heard of people doing this (never seen it though).

Here is the post from a few weeks ago..PM me if u want the install instructions

I think you are better off getting the 2002 and up soft top because those come with the glass window. You can buy one for around 500-700.

I've changed them, and it's a big job. Plan on a few nights work. i had a thread with pics on how-to but s2ki lost them.

I'd bid on the top on Ebay, 04 top with frame and motors.

I called a local classic car shop here that said they will replace the window only with an oem window for 270 bucks. He claimed he had done many s2ks for the insurance companies around town.

That is dirt cheap, too good to be true. I'll bet once they have the car in the door and the interior gutted it will cost more.

My cost for a window was 146 bucks at one point. The one I did took over 10 hrs to do it right. you get what you pay for.
