Default 5th gear problem

so im looking into buying a s2k and the guy said the 5th gear was sticky. i asked what he meant and this was his response.
5th gear works but S2K's have a common problem where both the reverse lockout and 5th gear get sticky. Basically the shifter needs to be taken apart and cleaned. It still works as is, but its hard to get it in an out of 5th gear unless you are doing more then 35-40 mph. It was never a problem for me but some people might be put off by it.

whats the deal guys??

I don't think I even had this problem. But I do know ppl having a hard time getting into reverse. And I don't remember ever being less than 30 mph in fifth.

There is some truth to that issue, I don't know if the shifter lube fix will address his particular issue but it does help with 5th gear and reverse gear selection. Before you buy the car ask the guy to have the shifter lube repair done and then you can make up your mind on the sale. I have done the shifter lube fix on my car and it works wonders, but that isn't to say his car doesn't have some other mechanical issue. Here is the TSB
