600 dollars to replace a tct?
i went to 3 different mech's today to get price quotes on replacing tct, and every one of them said 7 hrs of labor, something tells me i should never go back to them ever.is there a diy posted somewhere on here or at least the amount of torque to tighten the 10mm bolts back after replacement? ill just do it myself, you know what they say " you cant trust anybody"
were are you located carolina? If you were near mass I would do it for 200=). No really though its easy just take out the bolts for the old one, I belave you need to take the vtec solenoid out of the way, remove the bolts on the old one, remove the maintenance hole in the side of the block, put the new one in with the pin still in! and pull the pin out from the side with needle nose pliers. after you tighten the bolts tighten the maint. plug and the vtec solenoid and your good to go!

A) unfamiliar with the S2000 TCT
or
B) ripping you off
On Mazda CX-7's engine, TCT replacement involves removing the timing change cover, and a host of other parts in order to get to it; very time consuming. But then again, I still don't see how even that would take 7 hours.
The torque spec for the bolts on the TCT are 9 lb-ft

It is not a hard job to do at all, as for the tq. setting...just snug them back down but, don't get crazy or snap
