Default 8K rpm question?

Has any one ever encountered a problem with an 8K rpm "limit"?
The car is a 2001, intake, exhaust, VAFC, aftermarket steering wheel.
I've been running over all the possible probelms, the SRS light is still on from the steering wheel removal. Would this put the car into a "limp"mode?
The car runs fine and strong until 8K, then feels like it hits a limit. It just will not exceed that rpm?
Any info/ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Did this start after installing the new steering wheel? Is the car fully warmed up? Does it always cut out at the same RPM, regardless of gear selection?

It could be that your VAfc settings are too high or low at that point... try checking out your offset settings at 8K and - one point.....it should go away......

I doubt it is the V-AFC settings. It could be a problem with the V-AFC, but you should be able to monitor the V-AFC MAP input / output, RPM, etc. to see if something freaky is happening. I have heard of a few S2000s that have had similar symptoms relating to oil pressure at extended high RPM / load.

Does it kick into vtec? Sometime if the initail settings get screwed up your never get the high cam. The low cam feels like a real bummer past say 7500 rpm. The intial settings are the number of cylinders and the arrow thing pointed in a certin direction. Along with setting your tps. Might want to check it out if your not getting the high cam. If you are getting the high cam i have no idea.

I gotta say to double check your VTEC settings. When we dyno tested my car with the EMS, without VTEC enabled, the car just fell flat on it's face past around 7500 rpms.

I had a similar problem, the car runs fine until around 8k rpms thats when it like hits a wall and the car loses power. The problem was my VAFC and i had some wires connected wrong. Check that first, see if all the wires are connected or if there are any open wires touching.

Can the S@ handle 17 psi? Did you lower your compression? My S2's drive train feels like it can hardly handle 240hp and I mean the whole drive train not just the clutch. Every time I shift a gear I have to be perfectly smooth and match the rpms to the gear, otherwise if doesn't feel good. The syncros and the strength of the tranny are really weak. How much would I need to spend total on my stock S2 to turbo charge it?

Yes, and yes.

Stage 1: ~8000.
Stage 2: ~20000.
