Default 93 Octane gasoline in CA starting next year?

MTBE will be banned as gasoline additive by end of 2002 and Ethanol will take its place as the new octane enhancer.

There are rumors that the octane ratings in CA will rise closer to midwest level as a result of this.

Anybody know anything more about this?

Haven't heard anything about this.. But if this is all true, myself and many other high performance car owners will be very happy...
