Default $95 for a key program?

called two honda dealerships and one wants $95 and the other wants $96. i'm doing an ECU swap from 00-01 to a 02-03 ecu to see if i notice any difference. i read a bunch of people saying it cost them about $50 but the dealerships claim it has always been $95. i don't mind paying it but is was just wondering.

Yep the average is $100. It sucks but no one else can do it.

does that include the key and cutting it.

i got a key programmed for my 06 civic and it only cost $20 from the dealer, and the new process requires them to plug a computer into the obd2 port and it takes about 10 minutes. bought the key on ebay and they didn't charge for cutting it.

Not really a gimmick when it prevents the car from being started without a programmed key.

regular price is around 100 dollars unless you know someone up in the dealership. other then that they cut keys for free.

from what i've heard it takes less than 1/2 hour. just because it provides security doesn't mean they should charge more. it's still an easy job. that's just my opinion though.

Since the dealer is forced to purchase the 5k $$$ tester, it's well within their rights to charge what they will to recoup the expense.

If you're the only game in town you can charge what you want.
