Default accel -> pull left, offgas -> pull right?

Driving on the freeway at 65MPH in 6th gear, if I floor the gas the car pulls to the left. When I lift off, the gar pulls to the right.

I get other yanking left/right behavior during hard acceleration in first gear, especially during first/second shifts, but that's very dynamic behavior, hard to describe.

2002 S2000, 11800 miles.

This problem has gone from unnoticeable to obvious in a single tank of gas.

What the hell? Any ideas? (Yes, yes, I'm taking it in, but I find things work MUUCH better when I know what the problem is before the dealer does.)

You checked the obvious stuff first, right? Tire pressure equal left to right?

Assuming that is fine, maybe get the dealer to do an alignment? I am fairly certain that they will do the alignment free of charge if you're still in the first 12 months/12,000 (or 15,000) miles. Can't hurt to ask.

Your left rear tire is low. Check for a nail.

Yep. 1 inch long, 1/4" philips head screw, about 2" in from the sidewall in the treads. Thanks guys. By the time I got out there it was down to 8 psi. It's been slowly leaking for maybe the last two days... hopefully I haven't damaged the tire driving with it low on the freeway.

8? Wow, you would have noticed that getting in the car anyway, but glad we could help. I had a similar very slight pull one night a couple of miles out from my house. Next morning the tire was completely flat. Although it didn't quite look it (stiff sidewalls), no pressure registered on my gauge at all!

Come to think of it, I had roughly your mileage and my rears were getting to the point were I was *not* happy driving them in the rain. I figured that flat was a hint that it was time to replace them both.

Change your diff fluid after running a low rear tire for a while.

Better ask than stay ignorant....how is the differential going to ge affected by lower pressure on a rear tire...??
