Default Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor?

Hi people,

I have searched the forums but couldnt find any information regarding to the APP Sensor.

I have gotten this CEL few weeks back. Pulled a diagnostic tool on it, found out that car is suffering from Throttle/Pedal position sensor's voltage problem. I did changed a new throttle body but the problem still wont go away. I did a APP swap with another s2000, for few days it ran perfectly fine. It was just raining heavily and somehow, the CEL came up again with all the same codes. What could have happened? Could anyone please shed some insight on me? Help is appreciated.

Thanks!

What year is your car? 2006 + cars are drive by wire. That mean that the TB and pedal are not physically connected. There is a Sensor in the pedal and a motor/sensor in the TB. So your code is telling me (Throttle/Pedal position sensor) that your pedal sensor is suspect.

To clarify a little more.. the DBW s2k's have a "normal" non-DBW pedal and cable, it's just that the cable goes to a "sensor" that's mounted to the driver's side fender under the hood. I think it's cool because they kept the coil spring, and it seems to mimic a regular throttle body plate and spring setup. Here's a picture I snapped w/ the cover removed:

^ I find it slightly comical that an advancement in technology was "we've replace the system with new version of the system that simulates the old one"

I realize there are potential benefits, just sayin'.

Toyota is really seeing the benefit from the DBW systems.

Prius has a gas pedal over ride. Since DBW it always has. Toyota really doesn't have a problem, just people like to accuse the car for driver error. Out of an estimated 20,000+ toyota owners in my area we had no accidents linked to a stick gas pedal. Some state dealerships have assigned Toyota master techs to inspect the vehicles with said "stuck pedals" to prove it was not a fault in the Toyota design. The fix for it is pretty much BS. An insert under the pedal for some but most have about 1/2 inch shaved off the bottom of the pedal, and new pad under the carpet, and the shim. The only real problem I've seen with Toyota brake and gas problems in my 2.5 years of working on them is people who can not understand aftermarket plastic mats roll up under the pedals.

I never really understood the need for DBW. Why was this change a necessity for honda?
