Exclamation Accidentally downshift

Hi guys, stupid me I was doing a pull on the highway & I accidentally downshift into 2nd when I was full throttle in 3rd going about 70-75 MPH, the engine over revved really bad. I push the clutch in & shifted to nuetral right away. I saw smoke (I think it was a white smoke) coming out of the rear so I pull over to the side of the road and it stalled out on it's own. Now the car won't start at all. I have talked to a few people and some say snap the retainer rods, blew the pistons, my tranny blew up, & need a new headgasket. From the outside view, near the VTEC solenoid it has an oil leak (pic attached below). Please help! Thanks

Most likely need an engine rebuild.

You should post this on "S2000 Under The Hood."

Noooo I can feel your pain. This is a good time to maybe look at what maybe you wanted to do to the car. Silver lining of the situation. If you want to go turbo or a more powered NA build, this is the time.

I think 75 mph in 2nd puts you over 10K rpm.

My guess is bent exhaust valves.

Do a compression test. Chances are you have no compression in more than one cylinder. Then pull head. Check tops of pistons for damage from hitting valves.

If no piston damage, have head rebuilt by someone that knows not to plane or mill the head.

You may be able to save the engine.

This chart was just posted recently. At 75 mph you forced the engine to over 10,000 rpm, maybe closer to 11,000. Note the red areas on the right side for "rpm at 75 mph".

Tough lesson to learn.

I apologize for the late respond. Yup the valves bent and destroy the whole engine. I did replaced it. It was hard finding a nice F20C
