Kinda new member with a stock power AP2, I got a 2qt Accusump system at a good price with the electronic control valve 35-40psi, My question is, with the warm idle oil pressure below 20psi, if I have an off track event how do I keep the 2qts from dumping into the oil pan? The few off track events I have had the car has stalled each time. I know I can install a dash mounted toggle switch but my major concern with off track events is getting out of the way of on coming traffic not flipping a switch. ANY and ALL advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. PFA
When I installed a prelube pump on my car back in 2003, I bought a timer to make the setup automatic. With this timer in place the pump would turn on as soon as I turned the ignition switch on, then the relay would deactivate the pump after a set amount of time (for example, after 15 seconds). This way, the pump wouldn't kick on when the oil pressure dipped below 30psi. When I turned the ignition off and back on, the pump would be activated again for another 15 seconds. If I were to stall the engine, the pump would remain off since there was still power to the relay.
Before I got around to installing this timer I installed a toggle switch and a relay to turn the pump on and off. I got so used to using the toggle switch that I never got around to installing the timer.
The timer I bought is a "K141 Multi Mode Timer". Do a Google search for it if you're interested. There are numerous other timers available, but this one is inexpensive, simple and programmable. I'm not familiar with the current draw on the Accusump setup so you might also need a relay to reduce the current to the timer.
Alternatively you could use an Arduino Uno or a variety of relay timers on the market. Personally, I'd go with the K141 timer due to cost and ease of use.
I am looking at an RPM switch to close the valve below 3K RPM's, I didn't know if others had a proven solution so I don't have to reinvent the wheel. Please keep the suggestions coming.
