Thumbs up Adjusting the Convertible Top

I would like to do some adjusting to get my top down far enough so I can get the tonneau cover on and get the latch locked easier when putting the top on.The convertible top seems that it may need adjusted.

The two locking latches are difficult to get latched. Is this common having difficulty latching top to the windshield. I can get them latched but it is kinda tough because the top don't quite get close enough to the windshield latch using hte electric motor. But if I hold the electric and then I can get the latch hooked, I am able to use the latch to pull the top into the locked position. Is there anyway to adjust the top to go slightly closer to the windshield so it won't be as difficult to get the latch locked. Anyone else had this problem?

Also, the top doesn't seem to go down quite far enough in order for the tonneau cover to fit over the top when in the down position. Doeas this happen quite frequently on these s2000s. Mine is a 2002 and I was also wondering if many top down users just go without the tonneau cover when the top is down. Going without the tonneau cover is just for looks, right. Going without the tonneau cover will not harm or wear out the top, right? Does anyone not use the tonneau cover?

The reason your top isn't going down all the way is you have two tensioners that arent tensioning. If you look at your center bar going across, right behind it you'll see another bar that moves. It's not falling back when you put the top down. If you push it as the top goes down, it will in the right place and your tonneau will fit.
Modifry has a fix he sells for this that will correct the problem.

Most of the adjustment for the top is in the locking mechanism that goes to the windshield frame. You can check that visually and adjust.

When you have your top down look under the locking mechanism on either side and check for wear. If you see the back bottom edge of your locking mechanism with the top up is shiny, that's an indication it's wearing a hole in your roof when it's down. Put a patch there for it to rub on.

I hope that helps
