+1. I've had my valve cover off more than a dozen times, and still haven't replaced the gasket. (Hopefully, I didn't just jinx myself, since I'm planning to do another valve adjustment soon).
You're toast now for sure! The only way to avoid jinxing yourself is to perform a counter-jinx by buying a spare gasket. That will ensure you never need to replace the one now on the car.

It is recommended to be replaced. A new gasket can come on and off a few times under 10K after that get a new one. Its all up to you tho! good luck
"It is recommended" by whom? I've had my valve cover off 4-5 times now, with 60K miles on the car. Never replaced the gasket and never had a problem.

It has been recommended to me personally by a few Honda techs who have done alot of s2000 work in the area. I also think that if Honda has the dealership replace it with thier work (I.E. valve adjust), its reason enough for me to do so. IMHO, the peace of mind is nice. Plus i just spent 20K on the car, 30 bucks itsnt much.

The manual says to check it for damage and replace if it is damaged just like Billman states.

If those are dealership techs, I'd trust them about as far as I could throw them. Honda dealership techs, in general, are idiots.

If you wanna get all techy, I've done VA's on 325+ S2000s. Never replaced a single gasket. Tell that to the "techs"

What kind of symptoms would warrant a valve adjustment?
