The stock ecu stores information gathered from all its sensors but if you haven't had the stock ecu plugged in then it can't store anything in its memory just as if you had reset the ecu by disconnecting the battery or pulling a fuse

If the stock ECU was good enough why did you connect the EMS?
If it isn't good enough, how are you going to get the car to the service centre? If you do get the car there, I hope they don't want to take it for a test drive.

I think leaving the EMS sounds like a better option.

Not to be an ass... It seems you have basic questions about the EMS.... because of this, I would strongly suggest that you do some fundamental research on your own.... the best place to find everything under the sun about the EMS would be the aem forum..... I think it is crucial to at least understand the basics or at least attempt to understand the basics because the ems is a fully customizable tool.... it can make you car optimally perform when used correctly but can also cause a number of bad things....

I'd have to disagree. The AEM forum is pretty much a deadend. If you post a question there you are unlikely to get a response and if you do it will be elitist and dismissive.

I'd suggest doing a search here to learn all there is to know about the AEM EMS. ANd download the User Manual and Software and play with it.

Does the EMS log your miles just as the stock computer does? My car is still under warranty, so if I had a problem and brought my car in for service and replaced my stock ecu, they'd definitely know, right? Also for running a low boost (8psi) fi system, would the EMS better much better than E-Manage, or some other piggyback? Sorry if I'm asking dumb questions but I'm trying to find out which type of computer would be better for me being my car is daily driven. Thanks
The AEM EMS does not log miles and neither does a stock ECU. On any turbo or SC application, the EMS would be better than any piggyback. If you did bring the car in to the dealership for service, they would suspect that something is a little off because the EMS will never startup like a stock ECU. When you put the key in the run position, it takes just a tad bit longer for the fuel pump to turn on. It'll crank just a little bit more before it starts up on cold starts. If your car is under warranty and you take it to the dealer, they will most likely find the turbo setup first. They will take note of that and keep it on record for future visits
I hope that answers your question.

By the way, Australian or American, the EMS forum is still slow.

Do you reccomend a AEM for a NA engine with some mild internal (head, 89mm bore and 12:1 CR)

I recently bought a aEM from a owner who has the same satting lime me, just a CAI. it is almost plug and play right? just a little tuning has to be done if neccessary
