Default aem install

can somebody post or pm me some step by step instructions for installing the aem v1 intake on a 2001. I don't have the directions, it seems easy enough but I want to be sure what I'm doing. I also don't want to remove the whole bumper, I'd rather take off the wheel and go through the wheel-well. I also want to install the "umbrella" but don't know if I should order one from e-bay or use the flower pot idea? Will the pot get in the way of anything or will it stay mounted without cracking or breaking? Also, what can you mount it to? Any help with any of this is really appreciated. - thanks

not that difficult imo, but I don't have pictures. If you go here you can see Chiung's install of a v2 which is very similar. I used these to help me when I did my install a mt ago. Anyways, instead of the hole he drilled on the splash guard, I did a slit cut but everything else is similar. I didn't remove bumper or wheel, but did remove the splash guards.

As for the pot, just use anything that will direct water from the drain hole away from the filter. I used a pot and zip tied it to a couple of holes that were pre existing. Before you put the filter on the pipe, look above for the many holes that are available

Thumbs up

do you have any pics of how to remove the bumper? I want to install it without taking off the bumper but it looks like it will be hard to trim all that plastic without being able to get your whole arm in there, or is it possible?

If you look into the faq section, there should be a post on how to remove the bumper. For me, I just unbolted the splash guards, basically the big one in the middle and the one under the passanger side. Installed the aem, cut the plastic, then bolted the plastic back in and put the filter on.

I lost the instructions for the install, do you have to disconnect any hoses or relocate anything? I want to put in my intake asap but it seems a little harder than intakes I've put in other cars. I want to put in the umbrella also so the bumper removal might be needed. That's why I really needs some pics and directions on how to remove the front bumper (where are the clips, screws, how many there are, etc.) I cant find it under the search function and I can't find the FAQ section. Help me please, I've had my intake for months and it needs to get installrd already. - thanks

That should be everything you need. Like I mentioned, I did not remove wheel or bumper, but if you feel like it would help your install, go for it. Now go install your intake and report with the results
