Default Air cleaner question

Since we have a cone filter, I assume that removing the top of the air cleaner would not adversely affect the air cleaning process; is that correct?

If correct, would removing the top of the air filter help air flow, and hence performance? Would it cause any problems?

It makes it noisier, so I have no interest if it does not help, but if it helps, and causes no other problems, it seems logical to remove it.

Any benefits will be minimal and will only last until your engine bay gets hot. Then you start to lose power as it begins to suck in hot air.

Thanks! I've put the cover back on.
