Air Conditioner Problem
My S2k is 6 months old, at 2 mos. with very hot weather noticed air conditioner would blow very cold for about 4 miles then outlet air temp would warm up about 20 degrees for about a half mile then would cool back down and it keeps repeating this sequence. Took it to the dealer the first time they said it was low on freon and recharged it. Problem continued, took it back dealer said they checked system and it is operating per manufactures specifications.
Has anyone else had this problem, any ideas what the problem is.
I know it's a convertible and the top is usually down but sometimes its too damn hot and the AC feels better than the wind blowing.

Air conditioning problems are misdiagnosed by dealers often. The system on the S2000 is seperate from but communicates with OBD-II and as such technicians not familiar with the car do not know how to check this system( i.e. it will not set a code on a PGM scan tool!). For this system we put away all the bells and whistles of OBD-II and return to the blink-blink days of OBD-I:
1) Set the mode control dial to "Vent"
----The mode control dial is the big one on the top right of the AC cluster. (head, legs&head, top down, feet, def.&feet, defrost). The vent position is fully counterclockwise (i.e. head).
2) Turn the ignition switch on (second click)
3) Within 5 seconds after turning the ignition switch on, press the recirculation control switch the required number of times depending on the recirculation light status.
Note: The recirculation light is in the upper left of the air condition control cluster and it has a light on the switch.
----------------If the indicator is ON press the recirculation button 5 times
----------------If the indicator is OFF press the recirculation button 6 times.
The recirculation indicator light will come on for 2 seconds then blink a DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code). If not DTC is set the indicator will not blink after the initial 2 second illumination.
Diagnostic:
1 blink = Problem with the air mix control circuit
2 blink = Problem with the mode control circuit
3 blink = Problem with the blower motor circuit
4 blink = Problem with the evaporator temperature sensor circuit
In my opinion you'll get four blinks....but keep us posted.
Any questions please feel free to PM me.......

MTNST,
I have the exact symptoms. My A/C cycles through from a very cold to a cool range. It seems to only happen when I'm at idle going through stop-n-go traffic. I sometimes put the car in neutral and rev up the engine to get that COLD air blowing again. Once I'm operating at normal RPM's, the problem always goes away.
I've also had my complete A/C system replaced withing my first year. The symptoms still occur.
