Default Air intake problem

I have an AEM air intake that runs to the lower right vent. It is a two peice intake in order o make the turn towards the vent. In the middle of the two joints there is like a rubber portion(or something, i couldnt see well) that holds the two peices together; however....it like disinigrated or something and now the peices are not attached fully- theres about a 1 inch gap inbetween them.

Does anyone know if this a problem that can be fixed...or is a new intake needed.

would a part like this be under warranty from the company?

is the rubber thing still fully there, but there's a gap...or is there a hole in the rubber thing, so there's no full seal? on mine, the metal pieces don't touch, but the rubber seal is fully around both pieces.

you are fine. I have the AEM V2 CAI and I also have that wierd gap. As long as your screws are tight, u will be fine. I dunno why the AEM intakes are designed like that. But yah, u are fine

I will have to look again...my car is actually in a shop in Houston right now...I am in Austin, but what i can remember is:

The peices werent touching, there is no seal. And it looked as if the "rubber" or whatever material was there has started to erode...

Are you guys saying there "should" be a gap....or just that it is okay if there is one?

When i first saw it...It seemed to me like it needed to be fixed.

I was told it supposed to be like that, but that was by a friend. If u do fix it, let me know how u did it. Or try calling AEM rep
